Modelling was undertaken using ADMS 4.1 for pollutants including NOx, CO, Particulates (PM10), and dioxins.

Detailed stack height analysis was undertaken to determine the most appropriate stack height to enable effective pollutant dispersion.

The modelling was undertaken using ADMS 4.1 for pollutants including NOx, CO, Particulates (PM10), heavy metals and dioxins.  The modelling was further complicated by the location of the proposed development within a disused quarry in a coastal location which required extensive manipulation of site survey data and Ordnance Survey topographic data.  

Modelling was used to determine the most appropriate stack height for the proposed development and evaluated the potential impact of pollutants on the receiving environment.

The modelling concluded that there would be no significant impact on local air quality as a consequence of the proposed development.

We were able to deliver the project within a very short time frame with the client stating: “A great piece of work… I see this as the start of a long and fruitful working relationship.”

An initial screening assessment was undertaken using the DMRB assessment tool.

The developer is seeking to reduce dependence on existing gas-fired boilers through the installation of a facility that will process waste wood and biomass crops.  Rather than hold an open public meeting, the developer, in agreement with  the local councils, hosted a public exhibition.  This forum enabled councillors and interested members of the public to discuss the project and to exchange views and opinions.

Tivoli Consulting prepared the presentation media for the event including posters, handouts, a questionnaire and PowerPoint presentations.

The plant will replace an existing gas-fired boiler and will generate sufficient heat to dry the wood products manufactured on site.  The CHP plant will also generate approximately 1.6MWe of renewable electricity.

Tivoli is responsible for project managing the EIA and Enviroinmental Permit application.  The project team includes Sustainable Direction Ltd as well as a number of Nottinghamshire-based technical specialists.

Tivoli is therefore developing the EMS, in close consultation with the client, so that the client becomes fully aware of the potential environmental impacts associated with the operation of the plant.  The EMS will also facilitate continual improvement throughout the combustion process.

The EMS documentation has now been prepared.  The final stage of the project – delivering EMS training to site management and personnel – will be undertaken prior to the plant becoming operational in 2011.
